When I cross the valley to visit the children (and hopefully improve their English) I pass a sign saying Via Francigena. I have also seen a similar sign near Cassino. The sign has pilgrims with their walking sticks on it, so I was thinking that it might be a good course to follow on my bicycle (Tui's advert here).
Curious (for a change) I looked it up.
Well, what do you know?
It's the road from Rome to Canterbury, apparently.
OK. Soooo... I live about 120 kms south of Rome. Canterbury, I always believed, was in England. Perhaps it's moved, and I didn't notice?
Today I am grateful for maps...
