The mists of time. (This one doesn't photograph well. It has a reasonably good feel of depth to it, particularly in the middle distance).
I might have improved this if I had painted the poppies to be identical (it would have driven me completely bonkers) or if I had tipped the distant ones to give real perspective, but I wanted each poppy to be individual, to represent a soldier, and the idea was to be sending them off not quite attached to the physical landscape. When I planned it there was a lot of metaphor and symbol that seemed important to me. Now I hope the painting is simply thought-provoking and people can read it as they please.
