The ideas for painting are going well. I get excited about them, keen to start.
The reality is not so great. I keep stalling, afraid of failing I think. Now there is external pressure as well as my pressure on myself I want to run away from painting.
I think I am a control-freak who has lost control.
I'd rather be a writer.
With a nom de plume.

I suggest, from my own experience as a former perfectionist, that while losing control is painful, it is the only way out of being a control freak :-)
When you stop putting pressure on yourself, and stop taking it from others, weird things start happening - like work gets started, and indeed finished!
You could write and paint.
The worst thing that any artist can do is be afraid.
You just have to take a giant leap onto your page.
I know thousands of people who don't draw because they're too scared to start...when if they just put down a scribble, it'd be something.
Erase the fear, Mum.
Then you'll conquer.
