Stasera, MBL
This evening I took my guests to a festa in the countryside near Cassino. It was a typical "local" event, with food, music, and four generations of folk out enjoying themselves. The toddlers were bouncing to the music or sleeping in their mothers' arms before being carefully lowered into the strollers. Beside me a child of about ten slept with her head on her arms at the picnic table. Across the table from her her grandmother clapped and swayed to the music. As the concert progressed more and more young and not so young danced in front of the stage. Others watched from wherever they were, enjoying the balmy evening, the lights, the chatter and the music.
Fireworks welcomed us as we arrived, and music farewelled us as we wandered home a little early.
Today I am grateful for community spirit.
