the extra mile

It makes me really really happy when people go the extra mile, unasked. Too often there seem to be ulterior motives, hidden agendas, or simply the hope of fame and glory for doing something. But every so often someone does something quite wonderful, very quietly, and when you discover it your heart fills with gratitude and awe.

Less than two days ago I emailed a person I have never met, asking a couple of questions. I wasn't even sure it was a current address that I found on the net. The reply that I woke to this morning was wonderful; full, wide-ranging and generous in the time and attention given to answering my short email.

What a great way to start the day!

Today I am grateful for generous people.
